The RCIC is very similar to the RCIA: the process is essentially the same and is open to all children over the age of seven who have not yet been baptized and children over the age of ten who have not yet received Eucharist for the first time. (They will receive Confirmation as they approach high school age.)
The children journeying through the RCIC will attend weekly religious education classes with other children in their grade level. They will also attend a monthly RCIC class with all of the children in the process; we ask parents to attend the monthly class, too, as a help for the parents to understand what their children are learning and for the children to integrate the knowledge and formation into themselves at home. To this end, parents are encouraged to ask the Religious Educators, especially the formation team of the RCIC, for help and clarification whenever they find it necessary.
When they are ready, the children will then participate in the rites of Christian Initiation alongside the adults, including the reception of the Sacraments on the Easter Vigil.
