Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church, and made shares in her mission:
‘Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word’”
(CCC 1213).
Baptism is the first of the seven sacraments and one of three Sacraments of Initiation, which are Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. For this reason, we celebrate this sacrament in the entryway of the church in order to signify that this Sacrament of Baptism is the Door of the Church. “Baptism is a living encounter with Christ, which informs the entire existence of the baptized, imparting divine life and calling for sincere conversion.” – Pope Benedict XVI
Parents who wish to have their child baptized (ages infant-7 years of age) must fill out a Baptism registration form, if you downloaded the pdf form please return to the church office or email to [email protected].

Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children. They bear witness to this responsibility first by creating a home where tenderness, forgiveness, respect, fidelity, and disinterested service are the rule. The home is well suited for education in the virtues. This requires an apprenticeship in self-denial, sound judgment, and self-mastery - the preconditions of all true freedom. Parents should teach their children to subordinate the "material and instinctual dimensions to interior and spiritual ones."31 Parents have a grave responsibility to give good example to their children. By knowing how to acknowledge their own failings to their children, parents will be better able to guide and correct them:
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.33
(CCC2223)
“Baptism is a sacrament of Faith” (CCC, 1253).
It is the responsibility of all baptized Christians to journey with one another as one faith community. However, this is an even greater responsibility for the Godparents who are taking on the duty of walking with his or her God-child in faith. The parents have an equally vital role for the grace of Baptism to unfold. However, the Godparents have a greater responsibility for the spiritual growth of the child. For this reason, “they must be firm believers, able and ready to help the newly baptized child on the road of Christian Life” (CCC, 1255).
